Conservation Day 2019

The Cape May County Park & Zoo and the American Association of Zookeepers (AAZK) Cape May Zoo Chapter would like to invite you to our 3rd Annual Conservation Day event on Saturday, May 18th. Our goal for this event is to raise awareness and funds for endangered animals and their habitats. During this event various organizations, groups, and clubs from our local community will be supporting our endangered animals by being their voice. All the funds raised by the groups on this day will go towards each animals specific conservation fund. The largest amount of money raised by a group will have their donation matched by our AAZK Chapter. We hope you can join us and help make a difference for these beautiful animals!

We Need YOU!

The Cape May County Park & Zoo and the American Association of Zookeepers (AAZK) Cape May Zoo Chapter are seeking volunteers for our 3rd Annual Conservation Day event on Saturday, May 18th. All money raised during this event will go directly toward the endangered species conservation fund that your group has chosen to support. The group that raises the most funds for their species will win a special meet and greet, and have the donation matched by AAZK and sent to that particular conservation fund.

This is an excellent opportunity for all different types of groups: Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4H, youth groups, school/college clubs, private organizations, sports teams, and more. We hope that with your support we can make Conservation Day another huge success this year!

The event on May 18th will run from 10:00an until 2:00pm, if you choose to volunteer you will need to arrive by 9:45am for setup. Each volunteer group will need at least 1 person over the age of 18 to be present at their assigned information table for the duration of the event. Each volunteer group will have a choice of which species they would like to raise awareness for from a pre-selected list, on a first come first served basis.

As a volunteer group we ask that you:

•          Devote 1 hour in early April to meet with your Zookeeper Advisor.

•          Research your specific species and conservation group.

•          Create informational signage about your species and conservation fund.

•          Create an activity for guests to enjoy (Game, Activity, Craft, Coloring sheet)

•          Create a unique donation jar to collect funds in the day of the event.

•          Be available May 18th from 9:45 AM until 2:00 PM.
